Dear Bagawathas,

Many people have had divine experiences where they have had some kind of unique experience with the Lord. Even though we are able to have darshan of only the archai forms of the Lord, many people have been blessed with experiences in which they have either seen the Lord in person or conversed with Him. Adiyen is requesting all bagawathas to share any experiences they have had with Lord Lakshmi Narasimha. With your permission, adiyen would like to post your experience on the FB page for Sri Narasimha temple Wisconsin.

As an example, adiyen is writing about my parents’ experience with Lord Lakshmi Narasimha. My parents, Smt Vijayalakshmi and Srinivasan Sundaram built their first house in Sri Rangam in the 80s. The house was on the Railway Station Road on the East side of the Sri Rangam temple in the line of sight of Sri Peria Piratti. The house was also very close to the Sri Rangam Kattuazhagiya Singar temple and in the line of sight of Sri Kattu Azhagiya singar as well. It was their daily routine to visit the temple of Sri Kattu Azhagiya Singar and offer flowers like parijatham and nithya malli from their garden to Emperuman. In those days, the temple did not have many visitors. The temple was surrounded by many groves and orchards that, the temple did look as if it were part of a beautiful forest.

Visitors to this beautiful temple can feel the presence of the Divya Dampathis easily. One feels divine vibrations inside the temple. Now a days, many visitors throng the temple and many have had some kind of divine experience with Emperuman. In the 80s there weren’t many visitors to this temple. Even though the temple is situated in the heart of Sri Rangam, it felt as if the temple was in a remote location far away from any human interaction; a location where one could easily feel the presence of the Divya Dampathis.

One evening, my parents as part of their routine, visited the temple. It was time for offering prasadam to Perumal so the curtain was drawn across the sanctum. Except for the Bhattacharyar on the other side of the curtain, there was no one else present inside the sanctum. My mother was moved by a deep desire to chant some slokam on Lord Lakshmi Narasimha. As she didn’t know any slokam on Lord Narasimhar, she remarked to my father that it is too sad that they don’t know any slokam on Lord Lakshmi Narasimhar. As part of their daily routine, they regularly chanted Sri Stuti, Vishnu Sahasranamam , Sudarshanashtakam etc which they had learnt formally from their acharyan in santhai format but they hadn’t received an opportunity to learn slokams on Lord Lakshmi Narasimhar. The next moment, to their utter amazement, they saw an elderly Sri Vaishnava standing in front of them. He started to chant slokams on Lord Lakshmi Narasimhar in a loud voice. My parents were stunned to see another person appear suddenly in front of them. They were left speechless when they saw that His finger nails were curled and many feet in length! It was a hair rising experience for them! Furthermore, as soon as the curtain was opened, He was nowhere to be seen!
Such is the compassionate nature of Lord Lakshmi Narasimhar that He even appears in front of regular people like us who live in this day and age! Soon after this experience, my parents were blessed with many opportunities to learn slokams on Lord Lakshmi Narasimhar.

Paramatma has five forms or five modes of incarnations; Para, Vyuha, Vibhava, Antaryami and Arcavatara. To explain the difference between the forms, let us take the example of a person who is feeling thirsty and is in search of water. Para form of the Lord can be compared to the waters which surround the cosmos. The presence of cosmic water is beyond our imagination.

Vyuha is compared to the milky ocean which cannot be reached easily to quench thirst either. Vibhava forms are like flash floods. Floods appear suddenly and then disappear completely. The water in a flash flood is available only if the person is present at the location and at the time when floods occur. The ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu – Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Nirsimha, Vamana, Parasu Rama, Rama, Balarama & Kalki are examples of vibhava avatar. Krishna incarnated during the Dwapara Yuga. Only people who lived during the time period of the incarnation experienced Krishna avatara.

Antaryami is like the subsoil water. It is not easy to access water that is below the soil surface. In this form he exists as the soul of all jeevatmas. He cannot be easily experienced and it is very difficult to meditate on this form.

Archa form is like the rivers, ponds, wells, lakes, etc. It is very easy to obtain water from these water bodies when one is thirsty. This is the iconic embodiment of Paramatma. He exists as idols in temples. It is very easy to see this form and to meditate on this form. The idol has to be consecrated properly per all the sacred scriptures and the temple has to be constructed properly per the agamas; only then is the idol empowered with the divine presence of Paramatma. His unlimited compassion for all human beings causes him to exist in the archa form. He bestows his grace on his devotees and accepts their devotion and worship. The 106 Vishnu Temples in India which are part of the 108 Divya Desams are examples of archa avataras. People can easily see Lord Vishnu at these temples and they can experience and feel his power as well as grace. It is very easy to meditate on His beautiful form at the temples.

With the divine blessings of our acharyans, it has been planned to build a temple for Lord Lakshmi Narasimha in Wisconsin, U.S.A so that people living in North America can easily visit the temple to feel the powers of our most compassionate Lord Lakshmi Narasimha!

Adiyen once again requests all bagawathas to share any experiences they have had with Lord Lakshmi Narasimha. Please send an email to sundaramswetha@yahoo.com with details about your experience. With your permission, adiyen would like to post your experience on the FB page for Sri Narasimha temple Wisconsin.
